trickta Privacy Policy
Effective date: 26 October 2026
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This policy explains what information trickta ("trickta", "we", "us") collects when you use the trickta app and website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
trickta is operated by Deniz İnel, Winterthur, Switzerland ("controller"). Contact for privacy questions: denizinelofficial@gmail.com. You can also write to us from the app (Settings → Send feedback).
2. Who can use trickta
You must be at least 13 years old to use trickta, or at least 15 years old if you live in Türkiye. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
3. Information you give us
- Account information: username, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), date of birth, and the country of your device region. Optionally: name, display name, profile photo, bio, links, gender, city.
- Content you create: posts (photos, videos, captions), stories, comments (including voice comments), "thinks", collections, story highlights, and reactions. If you add a location to a post, we store the place name and its coordinates with the post.
- Messages: see section 6. Messages are end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read their content.
- Voice rooms: the audio of a live voice room passes through our real-time audio provider while the room is live. Text chat in a voice room is stored.
- Reports, blocks and feedback: when you report content or a person, we store the report, its reason, any details you add, and a snapshot of the reported content. When you report a chat message, the app sends us the text of the message you selected so that we can review it. Feedback you send from the app is stored with your account.
4. Information we collect automatically
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, a device identifier generated for the app, and your push notification token (if you allow notifications).
- Log and session information: IP address, user agent and device name for each sign-in session, so we can protect your account and sign out sessions you no longer use.
- Usage information: posts you view and for how long, posts shown to you and their position on screen, likes, skips, follows, searches you make, and profiles you visit. We use this to rank your feeds and recommendations, to count views, and to improve the service. When you view a post, we also record the IP address of the request.
- Search history: your recent searches are stored on your device only.
5. Information from your device, with your permission
We ask for permission before accessing any of the following, and you can change your choice at any time in your device settings.
- Contacts: if you allow it on the "people you may know" screen, the app sends the phone numbers in your address book to our server to find people you may know. We compare them with accounts and do not store them.
- Location: used when you add a location to a post or story, when you share a location in a chat (end-to-end encrypted), to search for places, and on the "people you may know" screen (sent with the request, not stored).
- Camera, microphone and photos: used only when you take or choose photos and videos, record voice messages or voice comments, or join a voice room.
- Speech recognition: used if you turn on automatic captions in the story editor. Your device's speech recognition service (Apple) processes the audio.
- Notifications: if you allow them, we send push notifications through Apple. You can choose in Settings whether notifications show the sender and a preview.
6. Messages and end-to-end encryption
- One-to-one and group chats are end-to-end encrypted: text, edits, locations, photos, videos and voice messages are encrypted on your device and can only be decrypted by the devices of the people in the chat. The encryption keys stay on your devices; our server stores only the encrypted messages and the public keys needed to encrypt to you.
- To deliver messages, our server still sees metadata: who sends a message to whom or to which group, when, the type of message, the size of attachments, reactions, pins, read receipts, and which trickta post is shared.
- If someone in a chat reports a message, the text of that message is sent to us by the reporter's app (section 3).
7. How we use information
- To provide trickta: create your account, show your profile and content, deliver messages and notifications.
- To personalise your feeds, explore page and suggestions, based on your activity and the activity of people with similar interests.
- To keep trickta safe: detect spam and abuse, review reports, enforce our Terms of Use, protect accounts, and apply the minimum age. Automated tools running on our own servers check the images of posts for nudity; a post they flag is hidden from others until we review it.
- To understand what posts are about, automated tools running on our own servers analyse the images, captions and the speech in videos of posts (for example, recognising that a photo shows a dog, or that a video talks about football). We keep the resulting topics, not the speech itself. These tools do not identify people and do not analyse faces.
- To communicate with you: verification codes, password reset, important service messages.
- To understand and improve the service, for example by testing changes with a share of users (A/B tests).
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party advertising and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Legal bases (where the GDPR or Swiss data protection law applies): performance of our contract with you (providing the service), our legitimate interests (safety, security, personalisation, improving the service), your consent (contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, notifications; you can withdraw it at any time), and legal obligations.
8. Who we share information with
- Other users: your profile, posts, stories and comments are visible according to your settings (for example, a private account is visible only to approved followers).
- Service providers that process data for us:
- Contabo (our servers, in Germany).
- Amazon Web Services (file storage in Sweden; email delivery).
- Apple (push notifications, place search and maps, speech recognition).
- LiveKit, our real-time audio provider, when you join a voice room.
- GIPHY: when you search for a GIF, your search text and IP address go to GIPHY.
- UI Avatars (ui-avatars.com): to draw a placeholder picture for accounts without a profile photo, the app sends that account's username to this service.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the safety of people or the integrity of trickta.
- Business transfer: if trickta is sold or merged, information may be transferred to the new owner under this policy.
Some of these providers may process information outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
9. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile and content | Until you delete it or delete your account |
| Stories | Visible to others for 24 hours, then kept in your private archive until you delete them or your account |
| Messages (encrypted) | Until your account is deleted. A message deleted "for everyone" is hidden from all participants; its encrypted content, which we cannot read, stays on our servers until the sender's account is deleted |
| Sign-in sessions | Ended after 180 days without use; ended sessions deleted 90 days after they end |
| IP addresses in view and link-click records | 90 days |
| Posts shown to you (impressions) | 90 days |
| Detailed activity used for recommendations | 60 days |
| Read notifications | 30 days |
| Inactive devices | 90 days after the device is no longer active |
| Email verification codes | 5 minutes |
| Backups | 14 days |
10. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app: Settings → Account Management. You can delete it immediately or choose a date. When an account is deleted, its profile, content, messages and files are removed from our systems Backups are overwritten within 14 days.
- Deactivate your account temporarily in the same place; your profile is hidden until you sign in again.
- Privacy controls: private account, ghost mode, who can see your follow lists, notification previews, blocking and muting.
- Access and portability: you can ask us for a copy of your data at denizinelofficial@gmail.com or from the app (Settings → Send feedback). End-to-end encrypted message content is not included because we cannot read it.
- Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to correct, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to complain to a data protection authority, for example the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), your local authority in the EU, or the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) in Türkiye.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), end-to-end encryption for chats, private file storage with short-lived signed links, and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
